Vignaioli delle Marche
Family-run, sustainable and socially responsible. These key words unite the 16 members of the new wine consortium founded at the end of 2023 in the Marche. Between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, winegrowers of this central Italian region produce both white and red wines, the most highly renowned of which is probably the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. In addition to this DOC region, the Vignaioli delle Marche encompasses six further areas, including Lacrima di Moro d'Alba and Esino, along with four DOCG quality levels. “We’re on a journey from vines to wines, a path that follows nature rather than trends”, says director Ilaria Ippoliti, describing the members' approach. They keep interventions in the cellar to a minimum and focus on the quality of the vines, all of which they grow themselves. In addition to their outstanding wines, the winegrowers are also spreading word of the traditions, cuisine and craftsmanship of the Marche region. Those interested can find out more at tastings, organised tours or even as overnight guests at some wineries: Four of the farms also have hotels or agritourism stays in addition to winegrowing. These include Alida and Giacomo, who used to have their own textile company and then fulfilled their dream of a winery and resort with Filodivino. Giacomo Rossi, on the other hand, has traded out his camera for a vine. The former film producer now focuses on organic (biodynamic) farming and nature at his Col di Corte winery. Others, such as the Mezzanotte family, have been cultivating their vineyards for several generations. A vocation rather than a profession - that's what unites the Vignaioli, they love their work, the wine and the brands.
